Semester 2 Week 3 01-03/08/16 Monday-Wednesday

Still drawing those pages like mad. I am almost to the point where Nelly enters the fantastical realm. I guess I quite like the idea that the imagined creatures are animated, it creates contrast, and also I hope this will make the motion comic work. Once Nelly enters the imaginary world, she will still remain static, while the things she interacts with are animated. This will then retain the comic's qualities, and also integrate elements of animation. This is a different attempt to try and combine comics and animation. Before, the animation was either too limited as to be distracting, or too well-done that there is not really a point for it to be in comic form. In this project's case, I hope to use animation as something that matters to the narrative.

WIP of the latest page (page 26). As mentioned in previous posts, I write the dialogue by hand. Here, I am using the lasso tool to arrange them neatly so the words sit in the centre of the speech bubble. The imperfections are left in there intentionally, as they are proof that all these are done by hand.

Completed page 26.

A single panel from page 15. This is a panel that will be switched out once the reader taps the page. A new panel with a different rose will move in to take its place.

Similar to page 15, this panel from page 19 will also be substituted by another when tapped. A different bug will be in that panel. The purpose of this is to show a range of different plants and insects of the rose farm, or a closer look at the world Nelly inhabits.

Another panel from page 19. My hand gets really tired after drawing all those roses.
