2014 Uni Project Background

The project for this year focuses on a roughly 2 minute animation. The sequence will be in the form of a motion comic. Unlike most motion comics that use limited animation, this project will be fully key animated using Photoshop.

The story is set in an alternate World War I. It draws inspiration from Scott Westerfeld's "Leviathan" series.

Princess Farahilde is the only daughter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. After her father's assassination, she is immediately locked up in an empty prison for her own protection. Her identity is kept secret from the guards of the prison in prevention of the news that the heir to the Austrian throne is still alive. The guards were simply told to keep an eye on her, and she must stay in the prison until all the commotion outside has died down. For this reason, the princess is not treated very well. However, a free spirit, Farahilde is determined to escape.

The animated short will establish Farahilde's character as an unyielding, dignified  individual, but also a compassionate one, too. The story will be strongly character driven.
